2019 NFL Draft Steals

The 2019 NFL draft was marked by many steals and busts through the 3 day draft. Many teams passed up great players for others, while many teams grabbed exactly what they needed when they least expected. We at Exxedera share with you our top steals of the 2019 draft.

1. Dwayne Haskins (Washington Redskins, Pick 15) – Dwayne Haskins ranks as our number one steal of the 2019 draft. The Ohio State Quarterback started 14 games out of 22, accounting for 5,396 passing yards & 54 touchdowns his sophomore season. With Haskins forgoing his 2 years of eligibility left, Haskins was expected to be a higher draft pick. Many New York Giant fans expected their new Quarterback to be Dwayne Haskins. Instead, the New York Giants went with Daniel Jones, disappointing many Giant fans. The Redskins were able to pick up what could be their future Quarterback with the 15th pick of the NFL draft. Therefore, Dwayne Haskins tops our 2019 Draft Steal List.

2. Greedy Williams (Cleveland Browns, Pick 46) – Greedy Williams stunned many fans as he slid into the 2nd round of the NFL Draft. Williams received the highest grade out of all cornerbacks in the 2019 draft with a 6.18 grade sheet according to However Williams still slipped behind 3 draft picks at the cornerback position. Williams was a top corner during his collegiate career with LSU. Surprisingly Williams slipped down in stocks and was drafted as the 46th pick overall. This gave the Browns a huge draft win, as they are adding on to what is already a top notch defensive back group. Williams has the prototypical size every NFL scout looks for. Greedy Williams stands at 6’2, 185 pounds, 31 1/2″ arms, 9 1/4″ hands, and ran a 4.37. Williams was projected by many Mock drafts as a first round draft pick, but fell to the second round due to many teams questioning his tackle and run support ability. With a little development, the Cleveland Browns might just have another Richard Sherman on their hands.

3. Chase Winovich (New England Patriots, Pick 77) – Chase Winovich surprised many when he was drafted into the 3rd round, pick 77. Winovich was projected to go into the second round, but slipped into the third round on day 2. The Michigan Wolverine Outside Linebacker was the main driving force behind Michigans No.14 ranked scoring defense in 2018. Coach Belichick has a knack for finding talent in the later rounds, and we feel this is gonna be a good one! The Wolverine linebacker accounted for 13.5 sacks in his last two seasons with the Wolverines. Many believe Belichick will use Winovich as a pass-rusher and will mold him to greatness.

4. Irv Smith Jr. (Minnesota Vikings, Pick 50) – The Alabama star Irv Smith Jr. ranked number one for tight ends throughout the entire draft. It was clear that Smith would be picked in the first round, as many projections had him as the number one TE and a first round top-20 pick. However, the Minnesota Vikings gained a huge steal when they drafted Irv Smith Jr. into the second round at pick 50. The Vikings added another prominent receiver to what already is a great group of receivers. The addition of Smith definitely adds a new wrinkle to a group of receivers that already include Adam Theilen, Stefan Diggs, and Kyle Rudolph. The addition of Smith also takes pressure off of Kirk Cousins, who struggled tremendously during his first year with the Vikings.

5. Miles Sanders (Philadelphia Eagles, Pick 53) – Miles Sanders was projected by many mock drafts as the No.2 ranked running back in 2019’s draft class. It was a surprise no team drafted this power-house back in the first round. Sanders slipped into the second round and was picked No. 53 by the Philadelphia Eagles. Although Sanders was in the shadow of Saquon Barkley for 2 seasons, Sanders broke out his Jr season rushing for 1,274 yards and 9 touchdowns, averaging 5.8 yards a cary. His efforts filled in the hole that Barkley left the Nittany Lions in 2018. The Philadelphia Eagles may have just grabbed the best running back in the NFL Draft when least expected.

6. Rock YaSin (Indianapolis Colts, Pick 34) – Rock Ya-Sin had a lot to prove this 2019 NFL Draft. Sin competed in every combine measurement, and blew away scouts with his consistency to be the best. Sin coming from a small school like Temple, blew away scouts with his effort during the 2019 Combine. Sin dominated from his time at Presbyterian college and until his time ended at Temple University. Ya-Sin began his college career starting as a true freshman for Presbyterian College. At Presbyterian College, Sin recorded 95 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 24 pass break-ups. Sin then transferred to Temple University after Presbyterian College decide to move from FCS to division 2. At Temple University he recorded 47 tackles, 2 interceptions, and tied for 14th in the nation with 12 pass break-ups. One of Ya-Sin’s interceptions made ESPN’s top 10 plays on Sports-center. Sin has physical attributes greater than those of taller plays. His arm size and hand size is bigger than Cornerback Greedy Williams. Expect Rock Ya-sin to bring a huge change into the Colts secondary.

7. Drew Lock (Denver Broncos, Pick 42) – Drew Lock was projected by many scouts as a top 10 pick. However his stock fell as teams grabbed other players from his position. The Strong-armed quarterback played all 4 seasons at Missouri compiling over 12,193 passing yards, 99 touchdowns, and only 39 interceptions. Lock was one of the more experienced players coming into the 2019 draft. It was shocking to many as the once first round projected quarterback, fell into the second round. Broncos GM John Elway has a knack for quarterbacks like Drew Lock. Lock is a very athletic quarterback, running a 4.69 40-yard dash. His resilience resembles much of the great John Elway, however his accuracy and interception rate resembles more of a Jay Cutler/Joe Flacco kind of feel. With Lock slipping into the second round, and Elway getting ahold of him, the future is only promising for this young organization.

8. Ken Webster (New England Patriots,  Pick 252) – Ole Miss cornerback Ken Webster started his collegiate career as a very promising one. Ken began his career at Ole Miss as a true freshman. Webster recorded 22 tackles, and 2 pass break-ups his freshman campaign. Webster showed exactly why he should’ve played more his freshman season, when he came back his sophomore year and dominated. Webster was seen making big plays all over ESPN his sophomore season. Ken recorded 41 tackles, 11 pass break ups, 12 passes defended, 3.0 TFL, and 1 interception. Webster was only suppose to improve even more his junior season, as he was raising many scouts eyebrows as to who he was. However, Ken Webster was haunted by a torn ligament in the first game of the season that hindered most of his career at Ole Miss. In 2018 Ken Webster made his debut again into the starting lineup. Ken Webster capped off his career and senior season by recording 33 tackles, and 2 interceptions against a very tough SEC schedule. Webster surprised many scouts at the NFL combine with his athletic ability. Webster ranked No. 1 for all cornerbacks with a 43″ Vertical, and ranked No. 3 with a 133″ Broad Jump. His On-field testing was above average than other cornerbacks who competed in the NFL Combine. This gave the Patriots no choice but to grab this Steal before the FA market could grab him. Webster will be able to make contributions right away in the kicking game with his amazing straight-line speed. His efforts in the kicking game will only lead to his contributions as a cornerback. Ken Webster definitely caps of our steals of the 2019 NFL Draft.

What will happen to Jameis Winston next?

The biggest question going around the NFL right now is what will happen to Jameis Winston next? First, we need to take you back to why this is even a question.

JAMEIS 3.jpg

Sometime in March 2016, a female Uber driver responded to a request by Jameis Winston in Scottdale, Arizona. At the time Jameis Winston was said to be intoxicated and called the driver to make sure he made it home safely. Winston sat in the front seat with the Uber Driver as she took him on his route. During the trip, Winston and the driver stopped by a fast food restaurant. While both Winston and the driver were sitting in the drive-thru, Winston allegedly touched the female driver between her legs.

The female Uber driver then reported to Uber soon after the alleged situation happened. Uber quickly went into action by suspending Jameis Winston’s Uber account. However, Arizona Police claim that the female driver did not report the situation to them at the time that it happened.

The NFL sent a letter to the Uber driver in November of 2017, stating that they would begin to investigate the situation. The NFL also claims that since the Uber Driver reported the situation the night of, that it was credible and was enough to suspend Jameis Winston.

Fast forward to now, Jameis Winston has not touched a snap for the 2018 season. However a Quarterback has stepped up to fill-in the role as the starting quarterback. RYAN FITZPATRICK.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has started off the season with back to back 300+ yard games, as well as leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 2-0 record. Under the play of Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in 1st place in the NFC South division.

jameis 5

With Ryan Fitzpatrick coming into the season with the hot hand and teammates like Desean Jackson making remarks like “He’s been playing on fire right now. With the way the team is rallying behind him and just playing lights-out football, you have to kind of honor it. You know what I’m saying? You can’t take the hot man out. You got the hot fire right now. It’s like ‘NBA Jam’ – whoever’s got that hot fire shot, you got to keep shooting, man”, this makes it very hard for a suspended Winston to come back in as a starter.

With Desean Jackson having already the same amount of touchdowns as last season as well as having already 1/3 the amount of his total receiving yards last year, in only two games thus far. The Fitz-Magic and Jackson combination seems to be working very well.

So with Fitzpatrick hot and Jameis Winston suspended, what will the future hold for Winston?

Winston is in his last year of his contract, Tampa Bay however has place a $20,922,000 fifth year contract option on Jameis Winston for the 2019 season. From the looks of things however, it can be believed that Winston may not be returning in which he will become a free agent by 2020.
